Dissertação (Mestrado em Enfermagem) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2012.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/316This research is a case study that aimed to present the application and implementation of knowledge areas in Project Management preconized by Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) in the development of a Project Suitability of a Materials Sterilization Central, in a small private hospital, in order to meet the quality standards set for the sector accreditation. The Materials Sterilization Central is a fundamental unit in hospitals for quality care to the client. Their goal is to provide health products processed properly, conditioned safe, use in direct care of sick or healthy individuals. At this point, it is the responsibility of health institutions that perform this service to ensure the appropriate functioning, taking into consideration the quality standards of the law, therefore, it is necessary to design and project management in order to adapt the sector standards required. The data were collected through participant observation, analysis of institutional documents, checklist and structured interview. First we conducted a situational diagnosis and process mapping to identify the needs and realities of the unit, later was developed a project to address the needs and unconformities found. The Project Adequacy of Material Sterilization Central was based in the PMBOK, using seven knowledge areas: integration, scope, time, quality, human resources, communications and risks. The processes and techniques of project management have been adapted to the reality of the institution and contributed to the project close down, within established time within the planned scope and quality expected by the institution, enabling greater involvement and commitment of the team.
