Some metals are widely used in orthopedic and orthodontic implants, due to their good resistance to mechanical load, despite the low biocompatibility of some metallic biomaterials in physiological environments. And one of the most important factors in the implantation of bioactive biomaterial is the fact that it triggers a series of biochemical and biophysical reactions between the implant and the contact tissue, associated with the superficial formation of a thin layer with a high concentration of Ca and P, which are the apatites, which can help in bone integration. Thus, the objective of this work is to determine the bioactivity of tapes from the Sn-9Zn system and commercially pure titanium (Ti c.p), to evaluate the growth of apatites on the surface, with and without hydroxyapatite coating. Bioactivity assays were carried out in body fluid, with subsequent evaluation by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. There was an evolution of the Hydroxyapatite layer in a homogeneous way and with a globular characteristic, appreciable for the osteointegrative process. The curves obtained in the corrosion tests demonstrated that the Ti c.p with Hydroxyapatite coating presented a greater corrosion potential when compared to the Sn-9Zn tape.
