Given the importance and limitation of natural resources, the search for alternative energy sources, such as wind and photovoltaic, becomes an emerging movement of globally known importance. Among them, photovoltaic energy plays a prominent role, due to the abundance of its source. The object of study of this dissertation is the design of a battery to power a residential off-grid system, combined with its main construction aspects. To this end, the components that characterize this system were surveyed and described, including the types of batteries normally used. From a technical and environmental point of view, the lithium-ion battery has great importance, since many electronic equipments work with devices of this nature. One of these devices is the laptop, whose battery is made up of a set of 18650 cells, which are disposed of by electronic waste companies.
