The participants were University students from 49 a public institution of higher education of Minas Gerais, in the period of data collection have stated make use of alcohol and/or drugs. The study was carried out from the analysis of data from previous searches called meaning of the use of alcohol and/or drug use among students and significance of the use of alcohol and/or drug use among college girls who used as a reference to Interpretive Anthropology. Both were approved by the Committee of ethics and Human Research at the Federal University of Alfenas, under the opinion paragraph 822,626, respecting all ethical and legal precepts. The data were collected in the period November 2014 to July 2015. The present study was based on the public policies developed in Brazil about drugs being used content analysis of Laurence Bardin. To respond to the goal has drawn up the following analytical category Dissonance between drug meaning to academics and public policy. Contacted that the use and abuse of alcohol and/or other drugs still begins in adolescence, stimulated by family and friends. This use intensifies at the University, with multiple motivations for leisure, to minimize the pain, the pressure of the day-day and suffering. The use and abuse led to risky behavior like driving under the influence of alcohol. It follows, by testimonials, the challenge of public policy and of universities as to the reality experienced by college students in relation to this theme.
