The nurse has a fundamental role in the health system, either in the management position, planning the aid process, or assisting directly in the nursing care. This study aims to analyze the quality of hospital assistance based on risk management according to nurses’ experiences. It is a qualitative descriptive-exploratory study made with 08 nurses responsible for risk management in the hospital environment, covering 06 towns in Minas Gerais’ south and one in Belo Horizonte’s metropolitan region. The Snowball technique was applied to select the candidates. The data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire containing personal and professional characterization and an opened question interview: Talk about the hospital assistance based on risk management according to your experience as a nurse. The hermeneutic dialects was used as a methodological reference. To analyze the data the Inductive Thematic Analysis was applied along with its six phases. In regard to the personal and professional characterization, there was a 75% feminine gender prevalence, aged between 31 and 40 years old, who have been graduated for over 0 to 10 years and who had a specialization; Half of the participants had between 01 and 10 years of work experience; two of them had master degrees, one was in progress, but none of them had a PhD. After the data collection was stablished, the codes were gathered in three subthemes in the central idea. From the Theme Maps it was possible to elect three main themes: Theme 1: Assistance processes; Theme 2: Technological innovation and Theme 3: Limits and possibilities. The first theme encompasses three subthemes: Patient’s security protocols, nursing assistance system and risk management map. The second one encompasses one subtheme: technologies. And the third theme encompasses two subthemes: facilities and difficulties. It was learned that the assistance’s quality in hospitals is based on risk management and presents challenges in reference to the implantation and implementation of the Patient’s Security Protocol. The technology use must cover the extension of the service and the number of professionals must be adequate to make the care safer. The communication also needs to be more effective aiming for a less risky assistance. Besides, the high management’s engaging to the process of promoting better work conditions.
