Taking these studies into account, the present research aimed to understand the process of authoring and production of Thematic Units (UT) in the training of undergraduates in the Biological Sciences course – Degree at the Federal University of Alfenas – UNIFAL-MG. The undergraduates, members of the Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching Initiation (PIBID) and the Pedagogical Residency Program (RP) were invited to participate in a set of classes in the form of a short course to understand the UT production process. The mini-course took place in a virtual format, over five meetings, via the Google Meet platform, in which the undergraduates studied the theme and developed activities. The data collection instruments used were: an individual questionnaire, the recording of the mini-course classes, mental maps (MM) produced by the groups of participating licentiate students, the recording of a semi-structured interview and the UT produced. Data processing occurred through references used and content analysis. The results show the involvement of participants in the process of building the material and their conceptions in implementing the UT, as well as the consequences of this production in more reflective practices of the participants. The analyzed data suggest that the UT were understood as complementary materials, which allow contextualization and favor new approaches for teaching concepts, among other notes.
