However, the formation of bone tissue on its surface causes a bulge and also a feeling of discomfort. In this way context, studies involving the preparation of resorbable metallic biomaterials have been taking place, among which the Sn, Zn and Mg alloys stand out. Rapid solidification techniques by melt spinning can produce ribbons with thicknesses close to 50 m, with refined microstructures, which can contribute to increase their mechanical strength. In this context, the present work aims to evaluate the tensile mechanical properties of Sn-Zn ribbons produced by melt spinning. The melt-spun Sn-Zn ribbons will be characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, dispersive energy spectrometry and tensile tests. To evaluate the effect of immersion in SBF medium of Sn-Zn ribbons on their tensile mechanical properties was also achieved. Results have indicated that no significant mass change was found after immersion in SBF medium. However, the tensile mechanical properties of melt-spun Sn-Zn ribbons were reduced after immersion in SBF medium, which can be related with the formation of microstructural defects.
