Through knowledge, organizations can adapt, innovate, and achieve their objectives, which depends on the effective acquisition, sharing and application of knowledge, aligned with organizational strategies. In the context of Public Administration in Brazil, this importance is reflected in the need to improve the provision of services and meet the demands of society. In this sense, the FORPDI platform has played a significant role in conducting institutional planning in many higher education institutions in the country. This academic work aimed to clarify how the FORPDI platform is used in the strategic planning of a Higher Education Institution and how it can be analyzed according to the concepts of Nonaka and Takeuchi's Knowledge Management model (1997, 2008). Knowledge Management, according to this model, involves four processes: Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization. Socialization refers to the transfer of tacit knowledge between individuals, Externalization involves the conversion of tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge, Combination deals with the integration of explicit knowledge, and finally, Internalization addresses the absorption of explicit knowledge by organizational members. The methodology used included a descriptive and integrative review of the literature on Public Administration in Brazil and Knowledge Management, followed by the qualitative research technique through the content analysis method. Furthermore, two roles related to the FORPDI platform were analyzed: the developer role and the user role. The results of this study showed that the concepts of Knowledge Management were well applied during the development stage of the FORPDI platform. However, during its use, the practices of the SECI model were not identified effectively, with management aspects such as monitoring and control predominant. The use of the FORPDI platform in strategic planning in higher education institutions represents a significant step, but the application of Knowledge Management concepts in these institutions still requires improvements. This indicates a gap in the application of Knowledge Management in the educational institution that could be better explored and, therefore, made it possible to propose improvements in relation to the structure and use of the FORPDI Platform that suggest the adaptation of Knowledge Management techniques to promote better creation, dissemination and use of knowledge acquired in each institutional planning. This work sought to contribute to the understanding of these challenges.
