It aims to understand what nurses from the Family Health Strategy think about aging and the health of the elderly. This is a qualitative, descriptive and crosssectional study with a phenomenological approach. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect socio-demographic data from the participants and three guiding questions: What do you think about aging ?; What do you think about the health of the elderly ?; Talk about your work with the health of the elderly? The study included 19 nurses from the Family Health Strategies teams in the city of Bragança Paulista / SP, from December 2018 to February 2019, after approval by the Ethics Committee, CAAE 98164018.3.0000.5142. Thematic analysis was performed for the organization of the data, with three categories emerging: life process, socio-family support and inefficiency in Health Policy. It became evident that nurses see aging as inevitable, and if there are actions that favor a good quality of life, it can be a smooth process. On the other hand, families are not yet prepared to care for their elderly, and it is necessary to maintain a link with the health service, linked to educational actions aimed at preventing diseases and promoting health, so that the aging process is experienced natural way. It is essential to change the focus of care in health services, still centered on assistance and disease.
