For the realization of this right, the Political Charter establishes the Unique Health System. Nevertheless, a series of factors have made difficult the realization of this right. Thus, citizens have increasingly sought the judicial route to guarantee access to health services and services, generating the phenomenon of judicialization that, despite ensuring the right to health in this particular cases, has negatively impacted the planning and system, generating conflicts and confrontations between the various actors involved with public health policies. In this context, extrajudicial measures capable of solving the complex problems of the health sector have been highlighted, avoiding the judicialization. Among those, we highlight the Sanitation Mediations, idealized and implemented by the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor’s Office on 2012. This work seeks, through the analysis of qualitative data obtained through interviews, documentary analysis and analysis of health indicators, to investigate possible contributions of these extrajudicial measures in two specific health regions of the State of Minas Gerais, as well as the perception of the actors involved with them about their possibilities and limits. As a result, we realized the effectiveness of these actions in solving problems already installed in the territories studied. However, in order to be an effective alternative to the judicial process, the proposal lacks continuity. It is suggested, therefore, its institutionalization not only in the scope of the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor’s office, but in the SUS itself.application/pdfAcesso AbertoSistema Único de Saúde (SUS).
