Two of Maxwell equations can be obtained from gauge invariance by imposing a dependence of electric and magnetic fields on the potential. The other pair of equations can be obtained from Maxwell's Lagrangian. Maxwell equations have a discrete symmetry involving electric and magnetic fields in vacuum and a continuous symmetry provided that the equations are modified by introducing the concept of magnetic currents and charges. If we change the Lagrangian, making it also dependent on the derivative of the Faraday tensor, one obtains the equations of Podolsky electrodynamics. Such equations do not preserve the dual symmetry between magnetic and electric fields. Our aim is to propose a generalized symmetry in Podolsky electrodynamics that preserves both symmetries gauge dual.application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Monopolos magnéticos.Simetria de Calibre.Eletrodinâmica de ordem superior.FISICA DAS PARTICULAS ELEMENTARES E CAMPOS::TEORIA GERAL DE PARTICULAS E CAMPOSMonopolos magnéticos na eletrodinâmica de ordem superior.Magnetic monopoles in high order electrodynamics.DissertaçãoMelo, Cássius Anderson Miquele De
