In the case of women who own their "own businesses", the situation tends to be a little better and this is what this study has tried to show by trying to understand the process of women entering the labor market in the city of Alfenas/MG, based on their work as owners of clothing stores and how these activities have contributed to their economic autonomy. To this end, a literature survey and review, secondary data research, fieldwork and a questionnaire were used with 25 female clothing store owners in the city. In the end, it was possible to conclude that women who own their own businesses go through a number of difficulties, such as double working hours, low salaries and difficulties in establishing themselves in the industry, despite this, they manage to achieve their economic autonomy, with a higher income than women in general in the municipality.application/pdfAcesso AbertoMercado de trabalhoGêneroComércioAlfenas-MGCIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIASer mulher no comércio varejista da cidade de Alfenas-MG: proprietárias de lojas de vestuário e autonomia econômicaDissertaçãoVale, Ana Rute Do
