Dissertação (Mestrado em Educação) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2019.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/1365The objective of this work is to understand the relationship between public spaces and the appropriations of children in these spaces; to analyze the ways in which children can contribute to the thinking of public spaces; understand the ways in which children reinvent the use of these spaces by playing and analyzing the possibilities of articulation between the school, the constitution of the city's public spaces and the child. The subjects investigated were infants, aged between four and six years of age in the city of Alfenas. For this investigation, we used the focal group technique, the participant observation and a semi-structured interview. We also used the technique of drawings, made by children to know the places they appropriated the city and also to understand the mode of participation in which they were involved. Data analysis was performed through content analysis of speeches and productions performed by the children. From this, we list two categories of analysis: Children's contributions to think public spaces; and appropriation and reinvention of public spaces. As a result, we can point out that children have few spaces for them and, consequently, are not seen as social actors capable of expressing and demanding their rights.
