The physical and psychological repercussions resulting from the work environment vary according to the nature and level of demand, the conditions in which the work is performed, the social support perceived and received, as well as individual aspects of the body and personality. The present work has as general objective to analyze the relationship between working conditions, perception of social support and the occurrence of common mental disorders and physical damage among teachers of the state school system in the southern region of Minas Gerais. 452 teachers from the state network of 19 schools in the south of Minas Gerias participated in the study. The information was collected from four instruments: the Perception Scale of Social Support at Work (EPSST), the General Health Questionnaire (QSG-12), a questionnaire based on the physical damage factor of the Work Related Damage Assessment Scale (EADRT), which makes up the Inventory on Work and Illness Risks (ITRA) and a sociodemographic and labor form. The information was collected through the application of these instruments to the professors participating in the research and the SPSS program (Statistics Package for Social Science) was used to assist in the analysis of the information, with descriptive analyzes, such as calculations of mean, standard deviation and frequency, for obtaining the profile of the respondents, and inferential statistics, such as the t test, correlation and regression analyzes, to analyze the relationship between some variables of working conditions and teacher illness.
