Dissertação (Mestrado em Geografia) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2024.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/2854Research on the presence of geography in the early years of elementary school found the difficulty of pedagogy graduates in working with this discipline in the classroom. Motivated by these results, the present study proposes to relate the teaching of geography with the literacy process in the early years of elementary school. The objective of this research is to elucidate literacy by and through geography. For this, it was necessary to establish a relationship between university and school, geographer and pedagogues, based on didactic strategies aimed at teaching words, based on the reading of the world.During the process, it was possible to investigate the dialogicity between pedagogies and geographies, regarding the continuing education of teachers on the job, connecting theory and practice through action research. It is, therefore, an analysis where the members are not only observed, but constitute themselves as active and reflective agents both in the investigation and in the intervention and construction of results. Allied to historical-dialectical materialism, which emphasizes the analysis of social and historical power relations, the research seeks to understand and transform the investigated reality. These notes are guided by the survey of the history and methods of literacy, the training of pedagogues, the legal aspects regarding the continuing education of teachers in Brazil and the analysis of the practical actions obtained through the implementation of an extension project with a 2nd year class of a municipal school. Through the research, it was found that it is possible to learn to read and write by and through geography and that the initiatives of continuing education of teachers are essential in the face of the desired political, intellectual and emancipatory progress of a significant portion of the population, which sees in education the maximum representation for the construction of a more just and equitable society.application/pdfAcesso AbertoGeografiaPedagogiaAlfabetizaçãoEnsinoFormação de professoresCIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIAAlfabetização através da Geografia: uma proposta de formação continuada entre geografias e pedagogiasDissertaçãoAzevedo, Sandra De Castro De
