The objective in this dissertation is showing that this kind of work can be developed even in basic education, but for that, it requires an interested students group in the research and guiding teachers trained to develop such project, adding the ability to develop these researches using digital technologies available as an aid tool in the project development. The participant method was used for the research,because it is believed that the research commitment with the community, groups and social movements, as is the case of the Congado culture. Based on several bibliographical analyzes and later with the practice, the research project was developed in a state school in the city of Campo Belo/MG with a group of eleven students who became members of the Nucleus of Scientific Research in BasicEducation of the referred school and that through theoretical classes, field practices and computer lab, they developed mappings and later created an exploratory web app for the general population or collaborative for teachers in order to contribute by tellingthe city's history through maps. The SIGs tools used for these surveys were components of the ArcGIS platform, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS StoryMaps, in additionto Google Earth Pro.
