Dissertação (Mestrado em Ciências Odontológicas) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2018.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/1125Objective: Assessment of bullying and odontological alterations in elementary school students. Methodology: The research was submitted and approved by the Federal University of Alfenas Research and Ethics Comitee, under the proccess n. 1.940.486. The term “General bullying” was adopted when there was no odontological complications and the term “odontological-impair-associated bullying” when those were present. A transversal delineated descriptive and analytical study was performed with 308 students between the ages of 6 to 14 years through the application of a questionnaire of Bullying, TMR model, which had 2 specific questions about odontological impairments added to it. For the group of children between 6 and 9 years, the questionnaire was handed and evaluated individually with the help of elucidative images to better understanding, since many of them were still in literacy phase. To the students between 10 and 14, the questionnaire was applied in groups inside the school area and a rapport was conducted before the questionnaire. The data were submitted to electronic processing in the Statistial Package for the Social Sciences (SPPS) 20.0 software, and presented in tables after Chi-square and Whitney statistical tests with 5% of p value. Results: 29.5% of the students were reported general bullying experiences, and, from those, 35.2% reported odontological-impair-associated bullying, with p= 0.006. The most common odontological imparment was “teeth is too big” (36.7%) and “crooked teeth” (33.3%). General bullying was more prevalent in the 6 to 9 years group age, with a p= 0.037 of significance in the relationship between bullying and age. The students that reported general bullying had a lower number of good friends, with p= 0.035. The most common type of bullying reported was “nicknames and cursings”, characterized by a direct verbal action. Regarding the duration of the agressions, 46% reported “1 week”. In the subject of numbers of agressors, 38.3% of the students reported as “2 or 3 colleagues”, most of them male. In regards to the victim perception of the bullying, 30% reported “feeling bad”. The majority answered “ask the help of a adult”, but also checked “no intervention”, since professors, parents and colleagues were unaware of the bullying situations. Conclusion: There is a necessity of the elaboration and execution of a intervention plan, regarding the whole students’ community, in order to prevent and reduce both the general bullying and the odontological-impair-associated bullying.elaboration and execution of a care plan that covers the entire school community for the prevention and reduction of Bullying and Bullying related to dental problems.application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/BullyingSaúde PúblicaViolência escolarOdontologiaServiços de Odontologia Escolar.ODONTOLOGIA::ODONTOPEDIATRIARelação entre Bullying e alterações odontológicas em escolares do ensino fundamental do município de Alfenas-MGDissertaçãoMoretti, Ana Beatriz Da Silveira
