Dissertação (Mestrado em Educação) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2023.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/2223In order to understand the importance of reading and the development of a taste for reading, with the school as the locus of action, qualitative research was conducted from the implementation of the pilot project Reading Carousel, with eighteen students from a 4th grade class of Elementary School I, from a public school of the Municipal Education Network of Poços de Caldas-MG. This study, presented here, investigated whether the contributions to the formation of a taste for reading in the student-reader of Basic Education, from the Reading Carousel, managed to break with the positivist and mnemonic pattern of school reading, even if on the small scale of a pilot project. Furthermore, an initial and final diagnosis of the students participating in the project was made; possible subjective changes in the participating students after the end of the pilot project were understood through semi-structured interviews; the main difficulties and limiting elements in the implementation of the proposed methodology were identified; possible positive points and points for methodological improvements in the Reading Carousel were analyzed. The theoretical foundation of the research was based on a multidisciplinary approach, in order to allow a look through different perspectives of the investigation. Methodologically, we found in action research an important possibility of effectuation in an attempt to understand the social, cultural, and educational practices that permeate the practice of reading, providing an opportunity for greater involvement of the participants during the project. For data collection, questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and participant observation reports were used. In the analysis and interpretation of the data, the Content Analysis systematized by Bardin (1979) was employed, using the IRAMUTEQ software as a resource and subsequently the Triangulation of Data.
