Dissertação (Mestrado em Enfermagem) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, 2023.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/2439This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of the Demoralization Scale (DS) for Brazilian culture. This is a quantitative and cross- sectional study, with face-to-face data collection, using the following instruments: Questionnaire for socio demographic characterization, Mini - Mental Adjustment to Cancer (Mini-MAC), DS and Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy - Spiritual Well- Being 12 Item Scale (FACIT-Sp-12). The sample consisted of adults with cancer, regardless of the type. Data collection was carried out through interviews, at the bedside, by the researcher herself. The translation and cultural adaptation of the DS were based on the recommendations of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer. The results of the Principal Component Analysis indicated the extraction of a three- dimensional structure, which explains 37.57% of the scale's total variance and presented adequate alpha coefficients, indicating satisfactory internal consistency. The results regarding predictive validity based on relationships with external measures met what was expected in this study. Given this, more studies are needed to better qualify the construct of demoralization in clinical care.application/pdfAcesso AbertoDesmoralizaçãoCâncerAdaptação transcultural de instrumentosOncologiaEvidências de validade.CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ENFERMAGEMTradução, adaptação cultural e análise das propriedades psicométricas da demoralization scale para a cultura brasileiraDissertaçãoGarcia, Ana Cláudia Mesquita
