Dissertação (Mestrado em Ciências Fisiológicas) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2019.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/1465Obesity is characterized by increased body fat reserves and is the cause of metabolic diseases in the world. In the last decade there was an increase of 7.5% in the frequency of obese adults in Brazil, in women, there was an increase of 8.2% over this period, and the relevance today is equivalent to approximately 20 every 100 women affected by the disease. The impact of obesity, by itself, the respiratory system is not very studied. The incresing number of obese women becomes even more worrying besides variations of sexual hormones during meno-pause. In this phase, the high weight is naturally correlated to variations of female sex hor-mones and their effects impacts various organs, including the lungs. The aim of this study was to verify if there is a difference in the mechanical parameters, histological and molecular respiratory system in obese female mice and non-obese female mice ovariectomized, or not. Our results suggest positive correlation between relative expression of ERs, the deposition of collagen type III, serum estradiol and how they influence the weight of the animals and with the ventilatory mechanics. In this way, we suggest that there is a positive correlation between obesity and female sex hormones, specifically the estradiol, with the respiratory system and that these two factors exert an influence on pulmonary function.application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/EstradiolRespiração ArtificialColágeno Tipo IReceptores EstrogênicosResistências das Vias RespiratóriasFISIOLOGIA DE ORGAOS E SISTEMAS::FISIOLOGIA DA RESPIRACAOImpacto da obesidade e dos hormônios sexuais femininos no sistema respiratórioDissertaçãoSoncini, Roseli
