Therefore, the theoretical methodological approach of Ethnography, grounded in Interpretative Anthropology of Geertz, in search for a dense description. Participated nine teen college girls enrolled in a public institution of higher learning, located in the southeast and that the period of data collection, make use of alcohol andor drugs. The ethical precepts were respected and the participants signed an informed consent. The data were collected in the period November 2014 to July 2015 in the domiciles, universities and the university parties, by means of semi-structured interviews, participant observation and recorded notes in a field diary. The interpretation of the directions given to the experience of the use of alcohol and drugs among college girls emerged the following themes: "the symbolism of the drug" and "the symbolism of non-drug". The first theme was possible to under stand that for students-drugs a substance that can take the person to the addiction and harm your health, alcohol, tobacco and inhalants, are cited by them, as no drugs. They make a distinction between "strong" and "weak" drug until then, not evidenced in other studies. In the second theme, alcohol is the psychoactive substance more consumed, but is not considered as drugs, being important in socialization and reduction of tensions. It was possible to realize a significant reduction in the use of psychoactive substances during the under graduate program through the development of strategies of self-control in view of the increased responsibilities and the charging for the future professional. Reiterates that the consumption of psychoactive substances by the students is related to webs built in the middle of each sociocultural.
