Dissertação (Mestrado em Ciências Odontológicas) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2018.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/1324Odontomas are the most common odontogenic tumor representing around 22% of them; the World Health Organization classifies them as benign odontogenic tumors classified as compound and complex. The etiology is usually associated with traumatic factors in deciduous teeth and infections. Odontomas are generally diagnosed in the second decade of life during routine radiography, and there is no gender predilection. In general, odontomas are asymptomatic, frequently associated with deciduous teeth retention, and non-eruption of permanent teeth, but can cause pain, cortical bone expansion and dental displacement. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence of odontomas in the panoramic radiographs of nonsyndromic patients before orthodontic treatment at the archives of Imaging Department of Instituto Mineiro de Pós-graduação at Alfenas, MG. Based on our results it can be concluded that odontomas were more prevalent in male patients with mean age of 14,5 years. Complex odontomas were observed more frequently in the maxilla while compound odontomas, in the mandible. Furthermore, it was observed higher frequency of impacted teeth associated with odontomas, and lower canine was the most frequently involved.application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/OdontomaPrevalênciaRadiografia panorâmica.CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAPrevalência de odontomas em uma população no sul do estado de Minas GeraisDissertaçãoHanemann, João Adolfo Costa
