Revisão e considerações sobre a classificação dos tumores odontogênicos e levantamento epidemiológico do laboratório de patologia bucal da Universidade Federal de Alfenas. 2018. 70f. Dissertação (Mestrado em Ciências Odontológicas) - Universidade Federal de Alfenas, Alfenas, MG, 2018.https://repositorio.unifal-mg.edu.br/handle/123456789/1349The odontogenic tumors comprise a complex group of lesions that present histopathological characteristics and diverse clinical behaviors, being that the majority of these lesions can be considered as the true neoplasms, but rarely present a malignant behavior. The first consensus on the classification of Odontogenic Tumors was the result of a five-year work organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), published in 1971, and this work was the first internationally accepted classification system for these tumors. Since then, the classification of tumors has been an academic exercise, being the appearance of this first edition and the beginning of interest in the study of this specific field of oral pathology. The second edition of the WHO classification was published in 1992, and the third edition in 2005, being the last one published in Pathology and Genetics of Head and Neck Tumors. As knowledge continues to evolve, this work aims to review the classification of odontogenic tumors from 1971 to 2017 and discuss the main changes made in each edition. We also performed an epidemiological survey of the cases of odontogenic tumors diagnosed between 1996 and 2016 at the Oral Pathology Laboratory of the Federal University of Alfenas, (UNIFAL-MG), and the discussion about the impact of the 2017 classification on the epidemiology of the sample collected. A total of 7,805 anatomopathological reports were issued in the period studied, among which, 131 (1,67%) were diagnosed as odontogenic tumors, and of these 131 cases, the majority were of odontomas with 62 (47,32%) cases, followed by ameloblastoma with 28 (21,37%) and mixoma cases with 13 (9,9%).application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Tumores OdontogênicosClassificaçãoOrganização Mundial da SaúdeCIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIARevisão e considerações sobre a classificação dos tumores odontogênicos e levantamento epidemiológico do laboratório de patologia bucal da Universidade Federal de AlfenasDissertaçãoPereira, Alessandro Antônio Costa
